According to the Sacramento Business Journal, Michael Teel, the majority owner of West Sacramento-based Raley’s, has decided to venture out on a new grocery concept, Market 5-ONE-5.
This addition to this already bustling community will take the place of the California Office Furniture building at 10th and R streets, and will cover 11,000 square feet. Stafford King Wiese Architects have partnered with the store to design it.
Teel said, “I want to go back to the basics and create a store that is reminiscent of a neighborhood corner market but with a focus on nutritious food at a fair value. Market 5-ONE-5 will be an unpretentious, inclusive and straightforward shopping experience.”
Market 5-ONE-5’s main focus is to serve healthy and nutritious food that is farm-to-fork, while offering dine-in services and local tap beers. Products fresh from local producers will be delivered daily. Even the name of the store focuses on healthy food consumption.
The “ONE” stands for organic, nutrition, and education which are the market’s three core values. The “five” not only relates to the five senses, but also the five essential nutrients the body needs.
Market 5-ONE-5 is set to open in the spring of 2017, and will provide 40 new jobs.
